About lax. surf. serve.

Lax. Surf. Serve. trips are operated by SixFifty Lacrosse, founded by Matt Bond in 2011. Matt played at the Johns Hopkins University from '91-'95 during which time the Blue Jays advanced to the NCAA Final Four 3 times. His brother Adam was also an attackman at Hopkins from '94-'96 and Washington College from '96-'97 while his father, Rick, was an All-American attackman at UMBC and inducted into the USA Lacrosse Florida Chapter Hall of Fame. All three Bonds have been inducted into the Pine Crest School (FL) Athletic Hall of Fame as student-athletes and coach. Matt has coached high school lacrosse for over 25 years with posts at Timperley Lacrosse Club (Manchester, England), Wootton HS (MD), New Canaan HS (CT), Corona del Mar HS (CA), and Menlo-Atherton HS (CA). He is the Director of the San Francisco Region and coach for ADVNC Lacrosse and since 2011, has been the offensive coordinator at Menlo-Atherton HS and Director of the Menlo-Atherton Grizzlies Youth Lacrosse Club. Matt's wife of 24 years, Katie, is a doctor of clinical psychology in private practice specializing in child and adolescent development and they have a 17 year old son (pictured above).

From 1996-2011, Matt served as a youth pastor for Young Life and in two of the largest churches on the West Coast while attending Fuller Theological Seminary. During this time, he led missions service trips for high school students to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica. His first student service trip to Costa Rica was in 2002 followed by trips every year through 2011 to the same area Lax. Surf. Serve. began operating in 2012 which formed the basis for our current trips.

The driving force behind Lax. Surf. Serve. is personal experience - when Matt was in high school, he had the opportunity to travel on numerous service trips with outstanding adult leaders and coaches which shaped him as a person and the direction of his life. The mission of Lax. Surf. Serve. is to provide the same kinds of transformative experiences for students that Matt experienced as a young person.
